In short ford Capri was introduced February 1969 a instant success their were 4 changes made to the Capri during its life time first came the mk1 Capri then 72 came the face lift mk1 the same body with revised changes most noticeable were bigger lights and interior
1974 came the mk2 Capri revised from the mk1 platform but a new outer body with a hatchback
1978 mk2 again was revised the mk2 series 2 now fondly referred to as the mk3 again the biggest changes were the lights bumpers and more modern interiors the model last to be born were the 2.8 injection the 280 Capri last of the line became a instant collectors car as again ford did with the mk1 when last few were the rs3100 ford finally called it a day on the Capri in 1986
tickford also produced a turbo 2.8 Capri with unique body kit and interior the demand was so low only 100 of these cars were made and cost twice as much as the 2.8 injection
The Capri also enjoyed a successfully racing career with the Rs2600,Rs3100, and the zackspeed though the 70s and 80s and still today in the hands of personal race drivers
Today the ford Capri receives great admiration from the motorist because when your behind the wheel its like nothing else to drive and the comments you get my dad had one of those or I Had a Capri 20 years ago with fond memories so may the Capri enjoy its 40 Th birthday and continue for many more
